Please welcome Moonshine to her forever home at Will’s Way Animal Sanctuary on Happiness Horse Farm.  Half Tennessee Walker,  half draft, this beauty is fully legal at 21 years old, and stands a whopping 17 hands high.  Blowing Rock NC barn staff fell in love with this gentle beauty and reached out to Mary Graves Barcellona, friend of the farm and mother to board member Leslie Atwater Ladner, with a rescue request. Sponsored by the Graves Family in loving memory of John and Elsie Graves, we hope to see this gorgeous mare recover and thrive.

Moonshine tested positive for EPM, a neuro- related illness caused by ingesting opossum feces, found in 50-90% of all equines tested. As an end host disease, she was medicated and only exhibits a little weakness on her hind end which after rest, is treated with therapy. We are hoping to have this gorgeous girl back in prime health and begin therapeutics for local veterans in 2027.

With the personality of a large golden retriever, she loves hay, humans, and Prince, our resident 43 year old stallion. He seems quite smitten with her as well, as you can find him most of the time right by her side, where he pushes his trough up so she can also have a snack …or several.  If you are interested in sponsoring Prince or any of our rescued animals, please reach out.  Our 501 C3 tax deductible rescue relies upon your charitable contributions and greatly appreciates the generous support of our donors.
